Course: Photography 1, 2 and 3/4 (SLCC Concurrent)
Objectives:
1. Incorporate elements and principles of design, such as repetition, line, rule of thirds, unity, and cropping to create interesting compositions.
2. Compare and Contrast fast and slow shutter speed images and processes
3. Practice correct exposure and light awareness. Understand that exposure is manipulated with aperture and shutter speed functions.
4. Execute correct darkroom workflow and process.
5. Learn about historical and contemporary photography as it relates to the subject.
(Note: I have taught variations of this unit to beginning and advanced students, both with darkroom and digital camera equipment. I varied assignment requirements and processes according to the needs and prior experiences of students in particular classes. The assignment sheet and samples here come from a concurrent class, and the attached assignment required students to produce fast and slow shutter speed results, processing photos in the darkroom. Night motion was just one element of their assignment.)
