I am a licensed art teacher and an artist in Utah. I am passionate about sharing the creative process with others. This website houses my art and education portfolios.
About me and this site:
I have spent 11 years teaching art as a licensed teacher. I spent 10 of those years working with underserved and vulnerable teen student populations, and I spent 1 year working in a K-8 elementary/middle school. I am most passionate about my work with underserved teens. The high school teaching portfolio link above connects to the most comprehensive of the teaching portfolio links on this site.
I am also passionate about my own art-making. Earlier in my life, during college years, I was studying to become an illustrator with coursework and internships, and I took my training very seriously. Then, I changed direction and made plans for a future in Art Education my senior year, which led me to pursue a Masters in Education. Due to my early studio background, I have retained a deep love for competent art-making which has endured with time. I am passionate about content, process and product. You will find my artist statement in the art portfolio, and it gives context to some of my work.
Please feel free to follow the links below to explore what I have done and where I have been. This website currently supports my art and teaching portfolios. All artwork in the art portfolio is my own, including the linked image below. All art in the education portfolio, including the image links above, were created by my students. I have created all supporting and scaffolding material that is connected through the high school education portfolio.
Thanks and enjoy my portfolios!
