While at Stillwater Academy, I facilitated art-making twice for an Earth Day Fundraiser. This fundraiser involved decorating a checkstand at a local Harmons Grocery Store. Harmons gifted a percentage of their revenues back to the school on a specific day. Student artwork hung at the store for a month each year, so the project lent visibility to our private school.

Pictures in the slideshow are from the first year we participated. I incorporated the project into a Recycled Art unit. I included contemporary abstract sculpture and Installation Art in my presentation content. For our project, we built a garden 'arbor' out of plastic bottles and knit flowers out of plastic tablecloths. Science students contributed to our art project by researching recycling methods and making posters. Our message was the importance of reuse and sustainability.
